APS Meeting Visa Information

Who is This Information For?

This visa information is for non-U.S. citizens/residents traveling to the U.S. for attendance at APS Meetings. If you plan other visits, such as business or vacation trips before or after an APS Meeting, this information may not be appropriate for your plans.

Visa Deadlines

   ATTENTION: APS cannot intervene with U.S. Embassies or consulates abroad or with the State Department in Washington, D.C., on behalf of any participant. 

Apply Early for Your Visa
Prospective APS Meeting participants should familiarize themselves with visa requirements well in advance of their Meeting.  APS encourages you to apply for your visa as early as possible, usually four to five months before your Meeting.

Visa Wait Times
Some consulates may have backlogs in scheduling visa interviews so applicants should first contact their consulates to find out how long the wait is for an interview and to estimate how long it may take to have a non-immigrant visa processed.

Visa Letters of Invitation

APS provides personalized letters of invitation to attendees of the April and March Meetings only. If you are attending the April or March Meeting and need a letter of invitation, fill out the Meeting Invitation Letter Request Form.  A personalized letter will be emailed to you.

Avoid Delay
 • Allow 7 to 10 days to receive your Letter of Invitation
 • Make sure all your information is current and correct
